President Bola Tinubu has expressed his deep sorrow and distress regarding the recent surge of violence and killings in Plateau State, which has resulted in the tragic loss of numerous innocent lives, News About Nigeria reports.

In a statement released on Tuesday through his media aide, Dele Alake, the President strongly condemned the most recent killings that took place in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State and parts of Benue State.

President Tinubu was profoundly disheartened by the ongoing retaliatory attacks and the unnecessary shedding of blood between communities in these two states.

Consequently, he appealed for tolerance and forgiveness as crucial steps toward putting an end to these killings.

Regrettably, the President highlighted the distressing case of an eight-month-old infant who lost her life in the Farin Lamba community of Vwang District, Jos South Local Government, as a result of a conflict she had no knowledge or involvement in.

The loss of innocent lives is an unfortunate consequence that frequently arises from enduring conflicts.

President Tinubu emphasized that the establishment of vibrant, peaceful, and prosperous communities necessitates the practice of tolerance and forgiveness in response to perceived wrongdoings.

Furthermore, he urged community leaders, religious leaders, traditional rulers, socio-cultural organizations, and the leadership of prominent bodies such as the Arewa Consultative Forum, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, and the Christian Association of Nigeria to collaborate in order to promote genuine and sustainable peace.

Reaffirming his government’s resolute determination to eradicate violent crimes and all forms of criminal activities across Nigeria, the President has instructed security agencies to identify and apprehend the masterminds behind these heinous acts, ensuring that they face the full force of the law.

However, he also called upon the governments of Plateau and Benue States, as well as emergency response agencies, to provide immediate assistance and relief to the victims who have been displaced as a result of these conflicts.
