The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially disclosed the outcomes of the 2023 National Common Entrance Examinations (NCEE), NEWS ABOUT NIGERIA reports.

With a notable surge in participation, a total of 72,865 eager pupils undertook the examination, surpassing last year’s figure of 71,738.

During a press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday, Andrew Adejo, the esteemed Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, made this information known.

Aspiring students and their anxious parents can access the results conveniently through the NECO website.

Among the various states across Nigeria, Lagos State emerged as the frontrunner, with an impressive 18,644 pupils registering for the examination.

Conversely, Taraba recorded the lowest number of registrants, with a modest 102 candidates.

Of the total registered candidates, a commendable 69,829 pupils successfully appeared for the examination, while regrettably, 3,036 were absent.

Displaying outstanding academic prowess, 76 students achieved the highest score of 203. On the other end of the spectrum, six pupils, despite their efforts, secured the lowest score of 1.

Highlighting a notable stride towards gender equality in education, Adejo proudly highlighted that female participation in the NCEE has seen significant progress.

A remarkable 38,801 female pupils registered for the examination, surpassing the number of male registrants, which stood at 34,064.

Adejo expressed his optimism regarding these results, stating, “With a total of 72,865 pupils registered, compared to 71,738 in 2022, and an encouraging trend in bridging the gender gap, we are making noteworthy advancements.

However, 69,829 pupils successfully took part in the examination, with 3,036 absent. The highest score attained was an impressive 203, while the lowest score of 1 was achieved by six pupils.”
