In response to reports of a divorce petition filed by May Edochie, the first wife of actor Yul Edochie, veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has expressed her apparent support for May.

News About Nigeria confirmed that May Edochie and her legal representative went to court on Monday, July 10, to initiate divorce proceedings, citing their 18-year-long marriage and Yul’s decision to enter into a polygamous marriage with colleague Judy Austin as reasons for the rift.
May had previously voiced her disagreement with Yul’s choice, emphasizing that she did not want to be forced into accepting a polygamous marriage that went against her personal faith and family values.
She acknowledged that some religions and traditions permit polygamy, but she personally chose not to conform to it.
In her Instagram post, Rita Edochie prayed for May’s protection and the well-being of her children.
She reminisced about the family’s past as a peaceful unit of six and expressed her belief that God knows what is best for them.
“They were six in this peaceful home father, mother and four lovely children enjoying their peacefully. Today, they are now four in the same home. God, please surround and protect the home both their going out and coming back. God almighty you know the best and your best is always the best. @mayyuledochie,” she wrote.
