Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasiru Idris, has sacked his Special Adviser on Youths, Mr Babangida Sarki, due to an inappropriate message he shared on his Whatsapp status, News About Nigeria reports.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, confirmed this in a statement released to the press in Birnin Kebbi.
The reason for the SA’s dismissal was his indecent post on his WhatsApp status. Governor Idris was greatly displeased by this offensive act, as it violated the moral and social principles of the predominantly Islamic Kebbi society.
The Governor, known as Kauran Gwandu, expressed his determination not to tolerate any actions that undermine the morality and integrity of the state’s people.
In addition to dismissing Mr Babangida Sarki, Governor Idris warned other public officials about engaging in such disgraceful behavior on their social media accounts and in public forums.
Residents said Governor Idris took swift and decisive action by relieving his Special Adviser on Youths of his duties following the immoral message he posted on his WhatsApp status.
They said the action demonstrates the Governor’s commitment to upholding the moral and social values of the Kebbi society, which is predominantly Islamic.
“The dismissal of the SA serves as a clear message that acts that denigrate the morality and integrity of the people will not be tolerated under Governor Idris’ administration”, Ajuri said.
Furthermore, Governor Idris issued a warning to all public officers, urging them to exercise caution and responsibility when using their social media platforms and engaging in public discussions.
The Governor emphasized that any offensive or inappropriate postings would be met with serious consequences.
