Anambra Government Indicts Mmesoma for Result Manipulation, News About Nigeria reports.
It is reported that Mmesoma Joy Ejikeme, a student, has been indicted for allegedly manipulating her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score result.
The conclusion was disclosed by the Committee set up by Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, to investigate the alleged forgery of a JAMB result.
The Committee submitted an 8-page report on Friday, detailing their investigation into the matter.
The controversy arose when Mmesoma claimed to have scored 362 in the examination, contradicting the score sent to her by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), which stated her actual score as 249.
According to the report signed by Anambra State’s Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, the Committee was tasked with reviewing Mmesoma’s JAMB results and associated documents, conducting interviews with relevant parties, and providing recommendations based on their findings.
During the investigation, the Committee invited Mmesoma, the Principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, and JAMB officials for an interactive session.
JAMB officials Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Head of Public Affairs, presented details regarding the JAMB admissions process and the specific events related to Mmesoma’s JAMB score.
JAMB revealed that Mmesoma had made multiple requests for her results at different times, each time receiving the same results indicating an aggregate score of 249.
However, she sent a different set of results to JAMB, claiming an aggregate score of 362. JAMB officials highlighted several red flags, including a different date of birth, a different registration number, and the use of a discarded notification of results template.
The examination center’s name was also manipulated in Mmesoma’s result sheet.
Mmesoma eventually admitted, in the presence of her principal and the Education Secretary, that the JAMB officials’ description of events was accurate.
She confessed to manipulating her UTME results by herself, using her own phone and later printing the manipulated results at a cybercafe.
The Committee tried to determine the motive behind Mmesoma’s actions, but she remained silent.
The principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary School and the Education Secretary expressed shock at the confession, as Mmesoma had deceived the school, her family, and the State Government.
Based on their investigation, the Committee found that Mmesoma’s actual UTME score, as released by JAMB, was 249.
The results she presented, with an aggregate score of 362, were determined to be fake due to significant variations in the registration number, date of birth, center name, and other details.
