The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted rumors about an alleged plan to suspend Dr. Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President, by the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party, News About Nigeria reports.

After the SWC convened in Ilorin, the state capital, a communique was issued, urging party members and supporters to remain calm and disregard the circulating rumors of Saraki’s suspension.

The communique, signed by the state party Chairman, Babatunde Mohammed, and the state Secretary, Abdulrazaq Lawal, denounced the purported suspension as a malicious attempt to sow discord within the party.

According to the statement, the enlarged meeting held on June 1, 2023, which aimed to assess the results of the 2023 general elections, had been misconstrued or misrepresented by a faction of dissatisfied individuals.

The Kwara State PDP further reiterated its commitment to upholding party unity and cohesion, stressing the need for members to remain focused on the party’s goals and objectives.

They called on supporters to maintain solidarity with Senator Saraki, recognizing his leadership and significant contributions to the state and the party.

The party leadership also expressed appreciation for the unwavering support and loyalty shown by party members during the general elections.

They emphasized that the PDP remained a formidable political force in Kwara State, poised to champion the interests of the people and promote good governance.

In a bid to dispel any doubts and clarify the situation, the communique highlighted the constructive discussions held during the meeting, where members evaluated the party’s performance in the elections and analyzed strategies for future success.

It emphasized the importance of maintaining internal cohesion and called for unity among party members, urging them to shun divisive elements and focus on strengthening the PDP.

The Kwara State PDP further emphasized the need for members to engage in constructive dialogue and constructive criticism, emphasizing that any concerns or grievances should be channeled through appropriate internal party structures.

The party’s leaders reaffirmed their commitment to democratic principles and the rule of law, underscoring the importance of adhering to due process and fair decision-making within the party.

They stressed that rumors and misinformation only served to undermine the party’s unity and distract from the collective goal of advancing the welfare of the people.
