The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has demonstrated his unwavering confidence in Mr. Gboyega Akosile by reappointing him as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS).
This decision further solidifies Akosile’s integral role in effectively managing the governor’s communication strategy, News About Nigeria reports.
The announcement of Akosile’s reappointment was made by the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, in an official statement. The appointment takes immediate effect, allowing Akosile to continue his impactful work without interruption.
Akosile’s track record of excellence and dedication to service was evident during his tenure as Chief Press Secretary in Governor Sanwo-Olu’s first term. His exceptional performance led to his continued role as the Media Adviser to the Governor since the beginning of the second term, starting on May 29, 2023.
Educationally, Akosile holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performing Arts from the University of Ilorin, which he earned between 1991 and 1996. He further pursued his academic pursuits and obtained a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the esteemed Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) between 2008 and 2010. Additionally, he holds a Master’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos.
Before joining the Governor’s team, Akosile gained valuable experience as the Head of the Reportorial Desk at Minaj Broadcasting International from 2006 to 2008. In this role, he oversaw reporters, coordinated assignments, and played an integral part in management decisions and policy formulation. He also meticulously organized the reportorial staff and the newsroom, ensuring the smooth execution of daily editorial schedules and the production of special programs and documentaries.
From 2010 to 2011, Akosile continued to make significant contributions to the media industry while at Super Screen Television. His responsibilities included directly supervising daily news bulletins, coordinating news staff and newsroom operations, and strategizing and implementing editorial schedules.
In 2009, Akosile took a bold step in his career by assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer at Bridgeworld Communications Company, where he excelled until his appointment as Chief Press Secretary.
Akosile’s skill set extends beyond traditional press work. He possesses expertise in video production, video editing, public relations, corporate communications, broadcast management, social media strategy, branding, digital marketing, and more. These diverse proficiencies make him a well-rounded professional, equipped to navigate the ever-evolving media landscape.
