Jose Mourinho has reportedly contacted Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood for a potential Roma loan deal, News About Nigeria reports.
According to a report by SunSport Mourinho had approached the 21-year-old winger and his father, discussing a possible loan deal for the young talent.
The report disclosed that Mourinho had advised him that the best option out of his current situation is to start playing competitive football.
Meanwhile, Greenwood is said to have welcomed the idea but has to wait for Man United’s final decision, as they continue with their internal investigation.
“Jose rang Mason’s dad and also spoke with Mason,” the report said, adding that “He told him the best way out of his current situation is to start playing football — and that eventually all the hassle will fade away.
It continued – “Mason was pleased that he got in touch and it has lifted his spirits.
“He wants to get back playing and is just waiting for United to tell him what the future holds.”
Greenwood who was first discovered by the former Manchester United manager (Jose Mourinho) was in February stripped of charges of attempted rape, assault, and coercive and controlling behaviour against him by his former girlfriend.
This was confirmed by British Crown Prosecution Service citing the withdrawal of key witnesses to the case and new material coming to light.
Since then, United has contemplated a possible loan deal for him. The Red Devils last month also included his name on their retained list.
Greenwood stopped playing for the Manchester club after his arrest in January 2022.
