A tragic incident took place in Anambra State, where a woman named Nnaemaka Nwosu allegedly set a policewoman and her two children on fire.

News About Nigeria gathered that the distressing event occurred on Sunday in Nnokwa community, located in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Nnaemaka Nwosu, originally from Amawbia, had reportedly been divorced by her husband and found herself homeless, desperately in need of accommodation. She confided in the policewoman, who sympathetically offered her a place to stay in her apartment.

According to an anonymous source in the area, trouble arose when an altercation between Nnaemaka Nwosu and the policewoman escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, Nnaemaka Nwosu struck the policewoman repeatedly with a pestle, causing her to fall unconscious.

Disturbingly, Nnaemaka Nwosu proceeded to tie the policewoman and her children together with rope inside their room. She then set them and the entire building on fire, resulting in the tragic deaths of the policewoman and her children.

The suspect was initially apprehended by local vigilantes and concerned villagers who rushed to the scene upon seeing the flames. They managed to capture her as she attempted to flee the vicinity.

In the beginning, Nnaemaka Nwosu claimed that the incident was an accident caused by a gas cylinder explosion while the policewoman and her children were boiling hot water. However, she later confessed to the heinous act and provided details of how she carried it out.

The Anambra State Police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect has been arrested. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further investigations.

DSP Ikenga also shared a brief account of the events leading up to the tragedy. He revealed that the policewoman had offered accommodation to the suspect while she was searching for a house. A disagreement between the two women escalated into a physical fight, resulting in Nnaemaka Nwosu striking the policewoman on the head with a pestle.

The policewoman lost consciousness, and Nnaemaka Nwosu proceeded to tie her and her two children together before setting them on fire. The bodies of the victims have been recovered and taken to the morgue. Further updates regarding the investigation and prosecution will be provided in due course, as stated by DSP Ikenga.
