The Nigerian Navy has undergone a major reshuffle in the appointments of its top senior officers, News About Nigeria reports.

The reshuffle affects 56 Rear Admirals and one Commodore.

The director of information, Commodore Ayo Vaughan, released a statement disclosing the changes.

Rear Admiral Olusanya Bankole, who previously served as the Director of Logistics at the Defence Space Administration, has been appointed as the Chief of Communications and Information Technology at Naval Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Alexander Bingel, who previously held the position of Director of Combat Policy and Tactics, is now the Director of Logistics at Defence Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu, formerly the Director of Project Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation Directorate at Naval Headquarters, has been appointed as the Chief of Defence Civil Military Cooperation at Defence Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Kennedy Ezete, who previously served as the Director of Project Monitoring at Defence Headquarters, has taken on the role of Chief of Administration at Naval Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Livingstone Izu, who was the Director of Manning at Naval Headquarters, has been appointed as the Chief of Logistics at Naval Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Musa Madugu, who previously served as the Deputy Director of Special Operation Forces at Defence Headquarters, has been appointed as the Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Ordinance Depot.

Rear Admiral Daupreye Matthew, the former Director of Innovation and Concept Development at Naval Headquarters, has been appointed as the Director of Training at Defence Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Zakariya Muhammad, who previously held the position of Director of Training at Naval Headquarters, has been reappointed as the Chief of Training and Operations.

Other appointments include Rear Admiral Emmanuel Nmoyem, who has been reappointed as the Director of Human Rights at Defence Headquarters, and Rear Admiral Ibrahim Shettima, who moves from his previous role as the Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command to become the Director of Plans at Defence Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Monday Unurhiere, the former Director of Plans at Naval Headquarters, has been appointed as the Chief of Defence Administration at Defence Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Hamza Kaoje, who previously served as the Director of Equipment Standardization and Harmonization at Defence Headquarters, has been appointed as the Group Managing Director of Navy Holdings Limited.

Rear Admiral Sulaiman El-ladan, who was the Chief of Naval Engineering at Naval Headquarters, has been appointed as the Director of Marine Research at the Defence Research and Development Bureau at Defence Headquarters. Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, who previously held the position of Director of Operations at Naval Headquarters, has been reappointed as the Chief of Naval Safety and Standards.

Rear Admiral Mohammed Abdullahi, the former Director of Communications at Naval Headquarters, has assumed the position of the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command. Rear Admiral Saheed Akinwande, who previously served as the Commandant of the Naval War College Nigeria, has been appointed as the Director of Operations at Naval Headquarters.

The reshuffle also includes appointments such as Rear Admiral Istifanus Albara as Navy Secretary at Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Clement Atebi as the Director of Audit at Naval Headquarters, and Rear Admiral Samson Bura as the Director of Logistics at the Defence Intelligence Agency.

These changes aim to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to key positions within the Nigerian Navy, ensuring effective leadership and management across various commands and headquarters.
