Tajudeen Abbas has emerged as the favored candidate for the position of Speaker in the House of Representatives, as his rivals Aliyu Betara and Yusuf Gagdi have gracefully withdrawn their candidacies, News About Nigeria reports.

This decision came about after a crucial meeting between the aspirants and President Bola Tinubu, along with Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday.

The news of this development was shared by Bayo Onanuga, the Director of Media and Publicity for the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign, through a tweet on his official Twitter account.

This turn of events sets the stage for Tajudeen Abbas to potentially assume the role of Speaker in the 10th National Assembly (NASS).

Recall that a communique had been issued regarding the upcoming inauguration of the 10th National Assembly.

This momentous event is scheduled to take place at the esteemed National Assembly Complex in Abuja on Tuesday, the 13th of June, 2023.

The announcement was made following a proclamation by the President, who serves as the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The communique further informed all elected Senators and Members of the House of Representatives of the Inauguration ceremony’s precise timing.

It is set to commence promptly at 10:00 am, as attendees are expected to gather at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

As the 10th National Assembly inauguration approaches, the anticipation among the elected Senators and Members of the House of Representatives grows.
