Delta Crisis: Bring Killers Of Soldiers To Justice - Tinubu Tells Military

Nigerian Army Sergeant Jidean Samson tragically lost his life in a fatal accident involving a passenger train at the railway crossing in PWD, News About Nigeria reports.

The incident occurred as Sergeant Samson attempted to cross the rail line on his bike while the train was enroute from Iddo in Lagos to Ibadan.

This unfortunate incident took place just three months after another passenger train collided with a Lagos State government staff bus carrying workers and their families at the same location.

The recurrence of such accidents at the PWD railway crossing has raised concerns about safety measures and the need for improved infrastructure.

An eyewitness present at the scene recounted the incident, highlighting that the deceased soldier was previously assigned to the 9th Brigade in Ikeja, Lagos.

The 9th Brigade military base expressed their condolences upon learning of Sergeant Samson’s untimely demise and confirmed that they had been notified.

To handle the situation appropriately, the military authorities promptly intervened and transferred the deceased soldier’s body to the Military Hospital mortuary located in Yaba, Lagos.

Ongoing investigations into the incident aim to prompt the implementation of preventative measures to avoid the recurrence of similar accidents in the future.

The military said the loss of Sergeant Jidean Samson serves as a somber reminder of the importance of prioritizing safety on railway crossings and ensuring that appropriate precautions are in place.

“It is crucial for relevant authorities to conduct thorough assessments of existing infrastructure and implement necessary upgrades to enhance safety for both pedestrians and motorists”.
