Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has called upon the leaders of various communities, groups, and institutions to attend an emergency town hall meeting scheduled for Saturday, News About Nigeria reports.

This announcement was made by Professor Chidiebere Onyia, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), through an official statement.

The purpose of this meeting is to address the recent cancellation of the sit-at-home order by the state government, which officially came into effect on June 5.

Governor Mbah had prohibited the continuation of the sit-at-home, a measure enforced by a faction of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Just a few days ago, the residents of Enugu State boldly ignored the directives of the proscribed IPOB and disregarded the mandatory sit-at-home order on Mondays.

As a result, roads, schools, banks, markets, and other public places remained deserted.

According to the statement, this forthcoming town hall meeting is a follow-up to the governor’s earlier consultations with various groups, with the aim of resolving the sit-at-home situation within the state.

The meeting is set to take place at the Banquet Hall, Old Government Lodge, commencing at 10:30 a.m.

An extensive list of invitees has been compiled, including religious leaders, traditional rulers, leaders of civil society organizations, heads of transport unions, officials from banking and financial institutions, leaders of security agencies, heads of neighborhood watch and forest guard groups, vice-chancellors, rectors, and provosts of tertiary institutions in the state.

Additionally, market union leaders, members of the hotel owners union, state leaders of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, and the National Union of Local Government Employees have also received invitations.

Furthermore, leaders of the Association of Enugu town unions, chairpersons of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, Conference of Political Parties, leaders of non-indigene groups, leaders of motor parks, proprietors of private schools, representatives of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, principals of secondary schools, heads of radio, television, and other media organizations, as well as student leaders in tertiary institutions, have been invited to participate in this crucial gathering.
