Major League Soccer side Inter Miami are making moves to sign Argentine forward, Angel Di Maria, News About Nigeria reports.
Di Maria was recently released as a free agent by Italian Seria A side Juventus, after joining the club in July 2022.
The 35-year-old is now set to join his teammate and countryman, Lionel Messi, who announced on Wednesday that he will join the MLS club, following Barcelona’s failure to make a reunion happen.
The Florida-based club is hoping to add Di Maria to their squad this summer to bolster their competing strength for the league title next season.
The Argentine made only 26 appearances for Juventus last season, scoring four times with 4 assists. No doubt age is creeping in on him.
Di Maria is among Argentina’s most dreaded players during his prime days when he will break through defensive positions and get the result for his team.
He also had a monumental professional career, starting from his days with Benfica, before moving over to Spain to join Real Madrid.
After a remarkable career that lasted for four years in Madrid, including winning the Champions League title in the 2013/14 season, he made a brief stop in England, playing for Manchester United.
He spent only a season at Old Trafford, before moving to French Ligue 1, where he played for Paris Saint-Germain.
At PSG, he won the Ligue 1 title five times, joining the very few Argentina players to have such a record.
Having spent seven years in France (his longest in any club), he moved to Juventus in 2022 but has failed to leave up to expectations this time.
If he successfully joins the franchise (Inter Miami), co-owned by David Beckham, it will be the first time he is leaving European top-flight leagues since 2007.
