Mateo Kovacic, a talented midfielder from Chelsea, is said to have reached a personal agreement to join Manchester City, the reigning English Premier League (EPL) champions, News About Nigeria reports.

Kovacic, known for his creativity in the midfield, has consistently proven himself during his time at Chelsea. Unfortunately, his career at Stamford Bridge has been marred by a series of injuries, limiting his playing time with the club.

Since his arrival on loan from Real Madrid in 2018, the Croatian midfielder has showcased his skillful ability to break through opponent defenses, contributing to Chelsea’s numerous successes.

Reports indicate that the 29-year-old has now agreed to personal terms with Manchester City and is eager to finalize the move in the near future.

Although Chelsea is open to selling Kovacic, who has spent five years with the club, they face limited options for his replacement. However, considering his strong desire to move on, Chelsea will not stand in his way, having accepted the terms offered by Manchester City.

While there is speculation that Kovacic may join Manchester City on a free transfer, the final decision rests with Chelsea, who are focused on reducing their oversized squad following a disappointing 2022/23 season.

It is worth noting that Chelsea recently allowed N’Golo Kante to join Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad on a three-year deal, and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema also joined the club.

These reported midfield moves from Chelsea are expected to be filled in the coming days, as the new Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has shown a keen interest in signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion.
