In an interesting development, Lai Mohammed, a former minister of information and culture, has been appointed as the managing partner for the Nigerian divisions of Ballard Partners, an international lobbying firm.

News About Nigeria reports that the firm made an official statement announcing this new appointment.

According to the statement, Ballard Partners is expanding its operations to Nigeria and will be establishing branches in Abuja and Lagos.

Brian Ballard, the president and founder of the firm, expressed the reason behind Mohammed’s selection, stating that he is highly esteemed among officials in the country.

The statement further elaborated on Mohammed’s background and accomplishments.

It highlighted his significant contributions to progressive politics and governance in Nigeria over the past twenty-five years.

From 2015 to 2023, he served as the Minister of Information and Culture, acting as the country’s spokesperson, reputation manager, and chief information strategist.

Mohammed holds the distinction of being the first two-term Minister of Information and Culture in Nigerian history.

In recognition of his service, President Muhammadu Buhari awarded him the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in 2022, which is one of the nation’s highest honors.

Since the inception of Nigeria’s fourth republic in 1999, Mohammed has played influential roles in the political landscape of the country.

He served as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his tenure as the Executive Governor of Lagos.

Additionally, Mohammed served as the National Spokesperson for the Opposition for over a decade from 2005 to 2015.

He also contested as a gubernatorial candidate for Kwara State in the 2003 General Elections.

In his new role as the managing partner of Ballard Partners in Nigeria, Mohammed will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s operations and activities in Abuja and Lagos.

His extensive experience and knowledge in politics, governance, and information management make him a valuable asset to the company’s expansion into the Nigerian market.
