The Senate has granted President Bola Tinubu’s request to appoint 20 special advisers, News About Nigeria reports.
President Tinubu’s request was presented by Senate President Ahmad Lawan during the session of the upper legislative chamber on Tuesday.
The President did not provide a list of the individuals who will be appointed as special advisers.
However, upon the reading of the letter, the Senate swiftly approved the request.
During the proceedings, the Senate President emphasized the urgency of the matter, stating that it is crucial for the President to have a team to collaborate with.
Since the names of the prospective special advisers were not included in the request, the Senate President suggested approving the appointment without specific names.
The approval of the request follows closely on the heels of President Tinubu’s announcement of the appointment of Femi Gbajabiamila, the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, as his Chief of Staff.
Furthermore, George Akume, a former Minister of Special Duties, was designated as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), while Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff.
