Arsenal sensation Bukayo Saka has captured the attention of fans after making an unannounced visit to Lagos, Nigeria, News About Nigeria reports.
Although the Lagos State Government has been linked to Saka’s visit, the purpose of his trip has not been officially confirmed.
Since his arrival on Wednesday, the English football star has become the center of attention in parts of Lagos, particularly in Somolu, where he shared a video of himself amidst cheers from enthusiastic football fans.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome he received, Saka took to Instagram to convey a heartfelt message to his Nigerian supporters, captioning his post, “E kuule o. Thank you for the warm welcome.”
In response to Saka’s visit, numerous Nigerians, including Everton’s Nigerian-born star, Alex Iwobi, have playfully teased the 21-year-old Gunners player about his reasons for visiting Nigeria. He said, “Wetin Bukayo Saka dey find for Egbeda?”
Saka, who was born in Nigeria but opted to represent England after undergoing trials with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), is an immensely talented international football player.
During the 2022-2023 Premier League season, Saka played a pivotal role for Arsenal as they secured a second-place finish, finishing just three points behind champions Manchester City.
Having concluded a demanding season, Saka plans to spend part of his vacation in Lagos, according to reports.
