US Tour: Chelsea Set To Play Five Pre-Season Games Ahead Of 2023/24 EPL Season

Following Chelsea’s abysmal performance in the 2023/23 English Premier League season, the club will face a tough pre-season campaign, when they embark on their United States tour in July, News About Nigeria gathered.

Chelsea finished at the bottom half of the English topflight league this season, for the first time since 1996.

With the hopes of playing in any European competition gone, the London club will look to recover and restore their lost glory, going into the season, with the new manager.

The club’s managerial upheaval is believed to have been sorted, after Mauricio Pochettino signed a two-year deal with the English side, to dismiss the club’s caretaker manager, Frank Lampard.

Meanwhile, before the start of the 2023/24 season, Chelsea will be heavily engaged in the US, with several games ahead of them till August 2.

The Blues have confirmed five preseason matches, during their trip to the USA, including three ties against Premier League opposition and a meeting with Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund.

The team will also have a stint with the newly promoted US club Wrexham, in North Carolina. The game will be the first official tire for Pochettino, as Chelsea’s new coach.

Below are all five-match fixtures, with dates and time. The time for the Wrexham clash will be confirmed soon by the club.

July 26             Chelsea vs. Newcastle                                     1:15 a.m. – 8:15 p.m.

July 30            Chelsea vs Fulham                                          7:45 p.m. – 2.45 p.m.

Aug 2              Chelsea vs. Borussia Dortmund                      12:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Chelsea will head back to England after the tour, to prepare for the season’s EPL which has been tentatively fixed for Saturday, August 12. Meanwhile, there will be an official statement by the league officials on June 15, to confirm this date or make minor changes.
