Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, has broken his silence regarding allegations of physical and verbal abuse against his wife, Yetunde.
News About Nigeria reports that speculations arose after a viral video showed Seun engaged in a heated altercation with a police officer, leading to concerns about the dynamics of his relationship with Yetunde.
The video, which circulated online a few weeks ago, captured the incident on Third Mainland Bridge.
Yetunde was seen stepping out of the car in an attempt to calm Seun during the confrontation.
However, Seun quickly ordered her back into the car, and she complied without hesitation.
The video sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many speculating that Yetunde may be a victim of domestic violence and expressing concern for her well-being.
Taking to Instagram in a recent live session, Seun Kuti addressed the speculations and vehemently denied any allegations of assaulting his wife.
He further debunked the notion that Yetunde is afraid of him, asserting that it is, in fact, he who is afraid of her.
Seun emphasized that those familiar with his family would attest to this dynamic.
This comes after the Police Service Commission demanded the immediate prosecution of Seun Kuti, over an alleged assault on a police officer on the Third Mainland bridge in Lagos State.
The PSC Chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase, a retired Inspector-General of Police had said Seun’s arraignment would serve as a deterrent to other citizens, adding that no one has the right to assault a policeman in uniform and on official duty, no matter the offence committed by a police officer.
