Actress Juliana Olayode has publicly expressed her heartfelt apology to her senior colleague, Funke Akindele, News About Nigeria reports.
Olayode, renowned for her role as Toyosi in Akindele’s popular series ‘Jenifa Diary,’ acknowledged a sense of responsibility to openly seek forgiveness from her esteemed senior.
In a lengthy post on Facebook, Olayode addressed the underlying issues that led to her departure from the series.
Reflecting on her early rise to fame, she acknowledged that her exposure through playing the character Toyosi in ‘Jenifa’s Diary’ was overwhelming, particularly considering her young age and limited experience upon completing secondary school.
Olayode disclosed that her lack of understanding of the intricacies of the entertainment industry, combined with the influence of her guardian (manager), contributed to the challenges she faced.
Unbeknownst to her, her guardian had sent an email to Scene One TV, the producers of the sitcom, which contained content that she was not aware of until recently.
Attempting to capture the depth of her regrets, Olayode confessed that recounting the entirety of her mistakes at the beginning of her career would be an insurmountable task.
She seized this opportunity to express her sincerest apologies to Aunty Funke Akindele, emphasizing her remorse and acknowledging her wrongdoing.
Olayode used the Yoruba phrase “ọmọdé ò lè mọ ẹ̀kọ́ jẹ, kó má ra lọ́wọ́,” meaning a child cannot comprehend the magnitude of an elder’s teachings, urging Akindele to forgive her for the pain she caused, particularly through the email that was sent.
The actress humbly sought forgiveness for her past immaturity and childish errors, expressing deep remorse for her actions.
She reiterated her eternal love and respect for Aunty Funke, emphasizing that her intention was not to solicit assistance from others in seeking forgiveness but rather to officially convey her apology.
Olayode acknowledged that she had personally met with Aunty Funke, who had already forgiven her, demonstrating their reconciliation through warm gestures such as embracing, praying, and even preparing meals for Olayode, reminiscent of their past moments together, including dishes like Jollof rice and fried chicken.
