Napoli legend and former Manchester United star Edison Cavani has revealed that his children idolize Victor Osimhen, News About Nigeria gathered.
Uruguayan international Edinson Cavani recently spoke about his children’s admiration for Nigerian football players during an interview with sources. Cavani revealed that his children often discuss two players, Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen, whenever they visit him.
“Idol of my children? They talked a lot about Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen. Even twenty days ago when they came to see me they spoke to me about it. It’s nice to know they have these idols,” Cavani said.
Cavani, who currently plays for Valencia, acknowledged the respect that Osimhen has earned from former players, coaches, and pundits due to his exceptional performances for Napoli this season.
The Uruguayan forward believes that Osimhen has the potential to become the best striker in the world and praised his contributions to Napoli’s success in winning the Scudetto.
He said, “he has everything to continue growing and become one of the best strikers in the world. The Scudetto was also won thanks to his hunger”.
Notably, Cavani himself is highly regarded at Napoli, having played for the club in 2010. During his time there, he made 138 appearances across various competitions, scoring an impressive 104 goals and providing 14 assists.
Cavani believes that Osimhen has the capability to equal or even surpass his record if he maintains his current form.
Osimhen, 24 years old, played a crucial role in Napoli’s title victory this season, which marked their first Scudetto in 33 years.
He has scored an impressive tally of 23 goals in 30 league appearances for Luciano Spalletti’s side and also found the net five times in the UEFA Champions League campaign.
