Nigerian singer and songwriter Olorunyomi Oloruntimilehin, widely known as Bad Boy Timz, has shared a deeply personal and harrowing experience from his childhood.
In a recent interview with UK-based media personality Adesope Olajide, the 23-year-old artist revealed that he was shot in the eye by assassins at the tender age of 9.
As gathered by News About Nigeria, during the conversation, Timz recounted the traumatic incident that occurred in Mushin, Lagos State, when his family’s car was targeted by assassins who opened fire.
The young artist explained that the intended target was his father’s head, but tragically, the bullet struck his eye instead.
In addition to the interview, Bad Boy Timz took to his Twitter account to share recovery photos from his time in the hospital, offering visual proof of the incident.
This gesture further emphasizes the authenticity of his story and provides a glimpse into the physical and emotional journey he has undertaken.
He said; “I got shot when I was nine, in the nose and it affected this eye. They were assassins, they didn’t even stop the car, they just shot the bunnet and started spraying.
“It wasn’t a robbery and they were looking for an Igbo family. When they heard my mum say e je kin ko awon omo mi, they were surprised.
“It was me, my mum, my dad and my immediate older brother, it was just four of us in the car in Lagos, Mushin to be precise.
“They just overtook us and started shooting, they didn’t even tell us to stop and I got shot in the eye because they were targeting my dad’s head and it went straight into my eye.”
When asked about the state of his injured eye, the singer said he is in a good state at the moment, although he is preparing for another operation.
“The eye is alright, I’m supposed to do another operation soon,” he said.
