Arsenal’s hopes for the English Premier League title was once more made bleak after a disastrous 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Sunday, News About Nigeria confirmed.
The team’s recent poor run has become a source of worry for many of their supporters and football analysts who had earlier hoped that the London team will lift the EPL title this season, after 20 years.
Arsenal started the 2022/23 EPL season with a heroic display that left no doubt of their competitive nature but all that may have been washed down the drain after last Sunday’s game with Brighton.
Reacting to the recent development, former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville has accused the team’s more experienced players of their title collapse.
Neville said Arsenal have lost their form and the older players in the club have failed to show their superiority in difficult matches.
“I think we have seen Gabriel, [Thomas] Partey, [Granit] Xhaka and a couple of others, their weakest time of the season.
“They have lost their form, and the older players have not been able to settle the younger players who were inevitably always going to struggle in this moment through pressure,” he said.
Neville also noted that the older and experienced players have not found their ground to support the younger ones in such a difficult moment for the club. “The experienced players have just not been quite there for them.”
Manchester City now tops Arsenal in the Premier League with four points and needs only three points extra to be confirmed league winners.
