The Action Peoples Party (APP) has decided to withdraw its petition challenging the victory of Bola Tinubu in the presidential election held on February 25, News About Nigeria reports.

Bola Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress won the hotly contested election with 36.61% of the vote, 8,794,726 total votes.

Runners-up were former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peoples Democratic Party, and former Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi.

However, there are claims of the election being rigged which has made the opposition head to court.

During the pre-hearing session at the court on Monday, the lawyer representing APP, Obed Agu, proposed the option of amicably resolving the disputes instead of proceeding to the main hearing.

Agu emphasized the significance of the claims made against the respondents – Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) – and suggested that they should acknowledge the petitioner’s claims.

The court then shifted the case to Wednesday for further pre-hearing.

However, during the subsequent court session, Agu submitted an application to withdraw the petition.

The representatives of INEC, Tinubu, and the APC, namely Abubakar Mahmoud, Wole Olanipekun, and Lateef Fagbemi, respectively, did not object to the application or request any costs.

As a result, the petition was dismissed by the court.

On Monday, the Action Alliance (AA) also withdrew its petition against Tinubu and the APC.

Consequently, two petitions have been dismissed, leaving three others for the court to determine.

These remaining petitions were filed by Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP); Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP); and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
