The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has urged candidates who sat for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to check their results via SMS.
In a statement released on Tuesday, JAMB disclosed that 1,595,779 candidates registered for the examination in 708 CBT centres in 105 examination towns across the country, News About Nigeria report.
However, the released results exclude candidates who were absent during the examination, those who have been rescheduled to take their examination on a later date, candidates whose results are under investigation, as well as visually impaired candidates whose results are still undergoing processing.
JAMB emphasized that candidates can check their results by sending UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number they used for registration. The result will be returned as a text message.
The released results, when checked by candidates, will return the status of the candidates. For instance, with respect to absent or rescheduled candidates, or those under investigation, the response would be “YOU WERE ABSENT, RESCHEDULED OR UNDER INVESTIGATION.” Therefore, only candidates who are not under any of these categories would have a returned result.
The examination board also urged candidates who are yet to receive their results to exercise patience as their results are still being processed.
This development comes as a relief to candidates who have been anxiously waiting for their results. With this new system in place, candidates can easily check their results at their convenience without having to go through any stress.
In conclusion, JAMB has advised candidates to remain calm and avoid panic, while also warning candidates against falling for fraudsters who may want to take advantage of the situation to extort money from them.
