Police Launch Manhunt for Driver Involved in Bauchi State Motorcycle Crash

The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the driver responsible for a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Workers’ Day around Al-Furqan Schools at Yelwa on the Bauchi-Dass road.

The incident involved a driver of a Volkswagen Vento, who was attempting to evade arrest by officials of the zonal office (OVL SUV) of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi State Sector Command. The driver collided with a Jincheng motorcycle, killing the rider instantly and leaving another passenger injured.

Confirming the tragic incident, the FRSC Sector Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi, attributed the cause of the accident to traffic violation News About Nigeria report.

According to Abdullahi, the driver was apprehended in front of the FRSC office and was directed to drive into the office while a road safety official sat in front of the vehicle. However, the driver used the turn in front of Matrix Filling station junction and collided with the incoming motorcycle from Yelwa direction.

Realizing the consequences of his actions, the driver immediately fled the scene, leaving his vehicle and passengers behind. The vehicle was later towed to the GRA Police Station, where the police have intensified efforts to apprehend the driver so that he can face trial for the offense committed.

Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased have been conveyed by relatives, while the injured passenger was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi for treatment.

In response to the incident, the police have launched a manhunt for the driver and urged the public to provide any useful information that could lead to his arrest.

This tragic accident highlights the need for drivers to obey traffic laws and take responsibility for their actions while on the road. The authorities have called on drivers to be more cautious and vigilant, especially during festive periods when the roads are usually busier than usual.
