The serene atmosphere of a burial ceremony in Akure, Ondo State turned tragic over the weekend when an argument between attendees turned fatal. Adesoji Adesida, a young Akure Prince, lost his life in the incident, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the tragic incident occurred when a member of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Rafiu Akinwale, who had traveled from Ibadan for the ceremony, engaged in an argument with his girlfriend. Adesida, who was in attendance, reportedly intervened, asking Akinwale to stop creating a scene.
In a fit of anger, Akinwale pushed Adesida, causing him to fall and hit his head on a wall. The impact proved fatal, and Adesida was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors, News About Nigeria report.
The incident caused a commotion at the ceremony, with attendees scampering for safety. The suspect was subsequently arrested by the Ala police detectives and is currently undergoing questioning.
