IPOB Calls For Release Of Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has demanded the immediate release of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja, News About Nigeria reports.

The group claims that there is an outbreak of tuberculosis in the DSS facility where Kanu is being held. Emma Powerful, a spokesperson for IPOB, accused the Nigerian government of using underhanded tactics to get rid of Kanu.

He expressed concern that the DSS facility in Abuja is filled with tuberculosis patients.

In a statement released on Thursday, Powerful stated that the DSS had deliberately placed a tuberculosis-infected person in close proximity to Kanu’s cell in an attempt to infect him.

He also claimed that the Nigerian government has employed various dangerous methods to kill Kanu while in detention.

However, he expressed gratitude to Chukwu Okike Abiama for keeping Kanu alive.

Powerful disclosed that the detained tuberculosis patient had infected many other inmates, and that the DSS was not providing medication to those who have contracted the disease.

He warned that if prompt action is not taken, there could be a tuberculosis pandemic in the Abuja DSS detention facility.

The IPOB spokesman has called on the Red Cross Society and World Health Organisation to visit the DSS facility in Abuja and provide unbiased reports on the situation.

He also urged them to recommend suitable treatment for the infected inmates.

Powerful alleged that the Nigerian government would deny the report, just as they have done in the past.

The Nigerian government is yet to react to the allegation.
