French journalist and sports reporter Gilles Verdez has debunked rumors that Moroccan football star Achraf Hakimi transferred his assets to his mother to avoid losing them in a divorce.

News About Nigeria recalls that the rumors surfaced amid reports that Hakimi is filing for divorce from Tunisian actress Hiba Abouk.

Verdez labeled the rumors as “fake news” and stated that it is impossible for Hakimi to transfer his assets to his mother under current laws regulating marriages in Europe.

But it’s not true that he put the property in his mother’s name, that wouldn’t be possible,” the reporter said. “Not in Spain, not in Morocco, not in France.”

Omar El Adlouni, a professor at French university La Sorbonne, supported Verdez’s claims and noted the legal implications of such a transfer, including a 45% tax payment and a potential prison sentence.

Spanish news outlet Marca had reported that Abouk was demanding half of Hakimi’s assets, claiming he had nothing to his name.

However, Hakimi’s mother, Saida Mouh, denied any knowledge of a transfer of her son’s assets.

If he has taken any action to protect himself, I’m unaware of it,” she said.

While it is true that Hakimi has a fortune of €70 million, Abouk also has €3 million, according to Verdez.

The laws governing marriages in most European countries stipulate that assets acquired during the marriage by one of the spouses are shared in case of divorce, but spouses can sign a contract to keep their assets separate during the marriage.

However, El Adlouni pointed out that both spouses would have to sign the contract in front of a notary, so there would be no need for Hakimi to transfer his assets to his mother.
