The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has faced technical glitches on the first day of its ongoing examination, leaving many candidates unable to take their exams. The board has scheduled a resit for affected candidates.
According to Fabian Benjamin, the Head of Public Affairs and Protocol at JAMB, about 100 out of 708 centers participating in the 2023 UTME nationwide experienced technical difficulties. To ensure that no candidate is denied the right to participate, JAMB has promised to reschedule affected candidates and provide them with new notifications.
This is not the first time JAMB has encountered technical difficulties during its examinations. In a mock exam held last month, candidates also reported similar issues. This has raised concerns among candidates and parents, who worry that technical glitches could affect their chances of gaining admission to tertiary institutions.
JAMB must take swift action to ensure that the remaining exams run smoothly without technical glitches. The board needs to ensure that it has adequate technical support to address the challenges that have bedeviled its exams in recent times.
While JAMB works to resolve the issue, candidates are encouraged to remain calm and optimistic that they will have the opportunity to take their exams and further their education. Candidate should also note that “no biometric verification, no examination” and violators of the code of conduct will face sanctions
Reports by News About Nigeria revealed that over 1.6 million candidates are expected to participate in the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME). The exam, which began on April 25 and will run until May 2, 2023.
