Top Nigerian Lawmaker Dies In Abuja

Tragedy struck in Taraba State as the member-elect for Jalingo, Yorro, Zing constituency, Ismaila Yushau Maihanchi, passed away in the early hours of Saturday in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), News About Nigeria has learnt.

According to sources, the late politician fell ill shortly after being declared the winner of the just concluded National Assembly election.

He had been receiving medical treatment in Abuja but lost the battle to the ailment.

Reacting to the news of the lawmaker’s demise, the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Andeta’rang Irammae, expressed his shock at the sudden death.

He revealed that the deceased would be missed not just by the party but the people of the state as a whole.

The acting chairman of the PDP in Taraba State, Abubakar Bawa, also expressed his condolences, describing the loss as a big blow to the PDP family in the state and the country at large.

The late Ismaila Yushau Maihanchi contested the National Assembly election on the platform of the PDP and emerged victorious, defeating his opponents from the All Progressives Congress (APC), the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) by a landslide.

As the news of his demise spreads, many are mourning the loss of the young politician, who was expected to bring positive change to his constituency.

However, the family of the late lawmaker has confirmed that the funeral arrangements would be announced later.

Ismaila Yushau Maihanchi’s death is a huge loss not only to his party but also to the people of Taraba State.

The late lawmaker’s legacy will live on, and his contributions to the growth and development of Taraba State will always be remembered.
