The Senate Chief Whip p,, Orji Uzor Kalu, has debunked rumors that the Nigerian President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is sick and hospitalized, News About Nigeria reports.
Kalu made the statement during his 63rd birthday celebration in Abuja, stating that Tinubu is hale and hearty and not sick, as alleged by some people.
According to Kalu, one of his colleagues had raised concerns about Tinubu’s health status, but he reassured the colleague that the President-elect was doing fine.
“I told him the incoming president was not in the hospital; it is not true that he is in the hospital. We argued. I told him the President-elect was okay”, Kalu said.
There have been concerns about Tinubu’s whereabouts and health status since he won the presidential election in February 2023.
In March, reports surfaced online that Tinubu had been secretly flown out of the country for medical treatment.
However, his media office debunked the rumors, stating that Tinubu only went to Paris to rest and prepare for his inauguration as the next Nigerian president on May 29.
Tinubu’s media team has repeatedly debunked rumors of his ill health, insisting that he is okay and not sick.
Despite these reassurances, Nigerians have remained skeptical, given the high stakes involved in Tinubu’s administration.
Recall that the the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District recently lost his first wife, Mrs Ifeoma Ada Kalu.
She was 61.
A memorial service in her honour was held in the United States of America (USA).
Ifeoma Ada Kalu is survived by her four children, Neya Uzor Kalu, Michael Uzor Kalu, Olivia Uzor Kalu and Nicole Uzor Kalu.
