Ward 9 Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Vincent Okokoje, has died, News About Nigeria has learnt.
According to reports, Okokoje slumped and died on Thursday morning, leaving his colleagues and associates in shock.
Confirming the news, the APC Ward 12 Chairman, Comrade Gabriel Omorere, said he and Okokoje had attended a meeting together at the residence of an APC leader in Warri South, Chief Ojogri on Wednesday along the Warri/Sapele road.
He stated that they only received the news of Okokoje’s demise on Thursday morning.
Omorere described Okokoje as a gentleman who loved making peace among his colleagues.
He further revealed that the late Okokoje was among the three Ward Chairmen who won their wards in the recently concluded election in Warri South Constituency II.
Following the news of Okokoje’s death, Omorere led a delegation of APC Chairmen in Warri South in a condolence visit to the wife, children, and family of the deceased.
He expressed his sadness over the sudden loss, saying that Okokoje would be greatly missed.
Omorere emphasized that Okokoje’s passing had left a significant vacuum within the APC in Warri South.
He, however, prayed that someone like him would emerge to work hard and move the party forward.
The news of Okokoje’s death has saddened many in Delta State, especially members of the APC in Warri South.
Friends, associates, and colleagues have taken to social media to express their condolences and pay tribute to the late Chairman.
Many have described Okokoje as a man of peace who was committed to the development of his community and the APC in Warri South.
Some have also commended his efforts towards promoting unity and inclusiveness within the party.
