Belgium-born Manchester City playmaker, Kevin de Bruyne has hit his 100th assist in the English Premier League (EPL) after bagging two assists in his side’s 4-1 victory over Southampton.
De Bruyne is currently sitting in fifth position for the EPL’s all-time top assist, with two behind fourth-place Frank Lampard.
Pep Guardiola’s men went on another rampage finding the net four times for the second consecutive game.
Erling Haaland found the net two times with a stunning bicycle kick, while Jack Grealish got one and substitute Julian Alvarez scored from the penalty spot.
Haaland has now scored 30 goals in 27 appearances in the league, two away from breaking the most goals scored in a single EPL season currently held by Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah.
The Citizens are looking confident ahead of their Champions League tie against Bayern Munich. The first leg will be played at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
The Saints of Southampton, however, are still bottom of the table with 23 points and face a serious threat of relegation.
The EPL table is currently topped by Mkkel Arteta’s Arsenal side. Liverpool will welcome Arsenal to Anfield on Sunday.
Arsenal has won seven Premier League games in a row, including four matches away from home. Gabriel Jesus has returned for Mikel Arteta and picked up a brace in their victory against Leeds United.
However, Liverpool has a history on their side against the Gunners. They are currently unbeaten in their last nine Premier League home games against Arsenal. The Reds, however, hope this will remain a trend that will continue on Sunday, so we will see the Liverpool that devastated Manchester United instead of the Liverpool who showed up against Manchester City.
