President Bola Tinubu To Stop Financial Leakages

As the 2023 elections draw closer, the political landscape in Nigeria is becoming increasingly heated. One of the major points of contention is the candidacy of former Lagos governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer, Bola Tinubu.

Recently, a former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Usman Yusuf, made headlines with his controversial statements about Tinubu’s presidential bid, News About Nigeria reports.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s The 2023 Verdict, Yusuf claimed that none of the northern governors in the APC will support Tinubu in the forthcoming elections.

He stated that Tinubu’s politics are limited to the South-West region, particularly in Lagos State, where he is regarded as “alpha and omega.” However, Yusuf argues that Tinubu has no experience in national politics and that his inexperience is showing.

Yusuf went on to claim that Tinubu is not engaging with the people of the North, but instead relying on praise singers and APC governors to manage his campaign. He described Tinubu’s approach as simply “dancing and leaving” when it comes to campaign hosting.

In addition, Yusuf expressed concern about the current president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari’s ability to influence the election in favor of the APC. He stated that Buhari had squandered his goodwill both internationally and nationally, and that the outcome of the election will ultimately be determined by the will of the people.

These statements by Yusuf have sparked controversy and divided opinions about Tinubu’s candidacy for the presidency. While some argue that Tinubu’s lack of experience and regional focus makes him an unsuitable candidate, others believe that his political track record and strong support in the South-West make him a viable option.

Regardless, as the elections approach, it is clear that the political landscape in Nigeria will remain contentious and closely watched by both local and international audiences.
