English Premier League side Liverpool has reportedly made a record-breaking offer for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, according to News About Nigeria.
The bid, rumored to be around €200 million, aims to trigger the player’s release clause from the French football team.
Mbappe has emerged as a highly sought-after player across Europe, with clubs like Real Madrid and Liverpool leading the race for his signature.
Real Madrid had previously failed in their attempt to sign him last summer when their bid was rejected by the French giants.
However, Liverpool has now reentered the race with a renewed determination and has reportedly outshone other clubs with their offer.
It should be noted that Mbappe expressed his desire to pursue his career with another club last season, despite having an existing contract with PSG.
While Mbappe’s contract is set to expire in 2024, PSG is currently open to releasing him for a significant fee, covering his release clause.
The talented player had an outstanding season, winning the French Ligue 1 Golden Boot by scoring 29 goals and providing five assists in 34 matches.
PSG secured the French League title, accumulating 85 points from 38 games, while Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League last season with 67 points from 38 games.
Although there has been no official statement from either club regarding the reported offer, more information is expected to emerge in the coming days.
One thing is clear: Mbappe wants to leave PSG, and a transfer is likely to happen this summer, as the club would prefer not to lose him on a free transfer next season.
