A new development has emerged regarding the situation in Sudan, as the Federal Government has made an announcement regarding the return of 125 Nigerian citizens who were stranded in the country, News About Nigeria reports.
In light of the ongoing crisis in Sudan, these individuals were airlifted on Saturday and are now on their way back to Nigeria.
The disclosure was made through a statement released by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, who serves as the Head of Media, Public Relations, and Protocol for Nigeria in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).
According to Balogun, the Tarco Airline aircraft with the registration code ST-TAL B737-300 departed from Port Sustatement dan International Airport at 10:45 am local time on June 24, 2023, carrying the 125 Nigerian nationals who were stranded in Sudan.
Based on the information provided by official sources, the estimated travel time for the aircraft is 2 hours and 50 minutes from Port Sudan (PZU) to Juba (JUB).
The plane will make a one-hour stopover in Juba before continuing its journey to Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.
The duration of the flight from Juba to Abuja is expected to be approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, resulting in a total travel time of 7 hours and 30 minutes.
Balogun further added that the flight is scheduled to arrive in Abuja around 5:45 pm Nigerian time.
This marks another significant effort by the government to repatriate Nigerian citizens who have been displaced due to the crisis in Sudan.
Over the past two months, approximately 2,000 Nigerians have been brought back to their home country in response to the dire circumstances they faced in Sudan.
