Inter Milan is reportedly set to hold discussions with Chelsea representatives regarding the potential signings of Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibaly, according to a report by News About Nigeria.
During his loan spell with Inter last season, Lukaku made a significant impact and the Italian side is eager to secure his services permanently. Lukaku endured a challenging period at Chelsea, struggling to secure sufficient playing time before being loaned out.
His time at Inter was more fruitful, with notable contributions such as multiple goals and assists, as well as helping the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League, despite their eventual disappointment in the competition.
Following their failure to clinch the Champions League title, Inter is determined to strengthen their squad with top-quality players, and they believe Lukaku fits that profile.
In addition to their interest in Lukaku, Inter will also explore the possibility of signing Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly. Despite limited appearances for Chelsea thus far, the Senegalese player has impressed Inter’s scouts.
Although Koulibaly received less game time under Chelsea’s caretaker manager Frank Lampard, he caught the eye of Graham Potter, who initially brought him to the West London club. Inter sees his versatility and experience as valuable assets to bolster their defensive line in the upcoming campaign.
Meanwhile, while Inter prepares their bids for Lukaku and Koulibaly, Chelsea is reportedly keen to acquire Inter’s goalkeeper André Onana. The Cameroonian shot-stopper has caught the attention of Chelsea’s new manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino, formerly with Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain, envisions Onana guarding Chelsea’s goal in the next season and is inclined to sell current goalkeepers Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy.
