The Governing Council of the Federal University, Lokoja, has dismissed four lecturers on account of examination misconduct and sexual misconduct, News About Nigeria reports.

According to reports, the governing council approved the dismissal of the lecturers at its second council meeting on Thursday.

The decision follows proper investigations after allegations of examination malpractices and sexual harassment were leveled against the lecturers last year.

Some students at the institution had accused the lecturers last year of threatening to fail them if they did not pay for their grades in ‘cash or kind.’

After a thorough investigation by the university, the council, led by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, commended the university management for adhering to due process during the investigation into the allegations of examination misconduct and sexual harassment against the lecturers.

The council further noted that it will not tolerate any unethical practices at the institution while urging the university to properly investigate all such allegations.

Ndoma-Egba said, “The council will not tolerate any unethical conduct at the university. We also urge the university to quickly process the remaining cases of misconduct pending, especially the one in the Faculty of Science that is trending in the media.”

He further cautioned staff members and lecturers against any form of molestation of students, emphasizing that the council would not condone any abuse against students.

Ndoma-Egba also encouraged students at the institution to always speak up when they are molested, adding that only by speaking out can they achieve justice.
