LG Polls: Kaduna Govt Imposes No Movement Order On Saturday

The Kaduna State Government has announced a no-movement restriction across the state from 6 am to 7 pm for the local government election slated for Saturday, October 19, 2024, News About Nigeria reports.

The announcement was made by the State Security Council in a statement by the Overseeing Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, which was released on Friday.

According to the statement, the order is to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.

Aruwan also explained that vehicular movements, as well as commercial and other related activities that may constitute impediments to law and order, are to cease within the period of the restriction (6 am to 7 pm on Saturday).

He, however, noted that only people performing essential duties are exempted from the restriction and may move during the period with proper identification and clearance.

Aruwan, therefore, tasked residents to refrain from actions that could disrupt public peace or affect the smooth conduct of the elections.

He further stated that to ensure compliance with this, security agencies have been deployed to all the local government areas in the state.

The statement further charges members of the general public to report any observed acts that threaten law and order during the election to security agencies.

Meanwhile, the state government has also enjoined residents of the state to endeavour to participate in the local government elections, noting that it is their responsibility to vote individuals that would further extend what the state government is doing to the grassroot by ensuring adequate allocation for all LGAs.
