Eight Suspects Arrested In UNIMAID Lecturer's Murder, Says Borno Police

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of eight suspects linked to the alleged murder of Dr. Kamar Abdulkadir, a Lecturer at the Department of Physical Health Education, University of Maiduguri.

News About Nigeria reported that Abdulkadir was found dead in his office on campus last Sunday, bearing multiple injuries inflicted by his killers.

According to the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Nahun Daso, the attackers not only took the lecturer’s life but also made off with his vehicle, phone, and laptop.

“We reviewed the CCTV camera and saw them leaving the university premises with the deceased’s vehicle. However, the quality of the video footage was inadequate to discern the number of individuals inside the car,” Daso stated.

An ongoing investigation into the incident is being conducted by the authorities.

Reacting to the unfortunate event, Prof. Danjuma Gambo, the Director of Radio and Public Relations, spoke on behalf of the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Shugaba, mentioning that the police and other security agencies are actively probing the circumstances surrounding Dr. Abdulkadir’s demise.

Prof. Gambo urged all staff and students to remain composed and continue with their regular activities, adding that the University is collaborating closely with relevant security agencies to uncover the truth.

“Given the gravity of the situation, management advises all staff and students to remain calm and go about their normal, legitimate businesses because the University is working closely with relevant security agencies to get to the root of the matter,” Gambo said.

He reassured parents, guardians, and stakeholders that the university campus remains a safe and secure environment for education, learning, and community engagement.

Prof. Gambo expressed gratitude for the outpouring of sympathy and support from all quarters during this difficult time.
