Yahaya Bello Summoned Over Breach Of Trust

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has come forward to clarify an incident that was initially reported as an assassination attempt on him on Sunday.

The incident, which garnered significant attention on social media, was, in fact, described by the governor as a minor disagreement between the security details assigned to him and military personnel responsible for road security, News About Nigeria gathered.

Governor Bello addressed the media from his residence in Abuja on Sunday, highlighting that there was no genuine attempt on his life during the incident.

He went on to explain that what transpired was a minor altercation between the Nigerian Police Force personnel attached to his convoy and military personnel who were responsible for maintaining security on the road.

The disagreement occurred as both units carried out their lawful security duties.

While commending the collective efforts of the security agencies in enhancing the safety of lives and property for Kogi State residents, Governor Bello urged the high command of the involved agencies to investigate any cases of overzealousness or unprofessional conduct by their personnel involved in the incident.

He added that appropriate sanctions should be applied where necessary.

The Governor also called upon the citizens of Kogi State to disregard any attempts by political opportunists to exploit the incident and create unrest as the state’s 2023 governorship elections, scheduled for November 11, draw nearer.

He assured the state’s residents of his personal safety and the sufficiency of security measures in place to ensure that the upcoming elections proceed peacefully, freely, and fairly.
