The World Is Not Ready To Listen To Conscious Music — Dayo Adeneye

Veteran music executive Dayo Adeneye, also known as D1, has opined that creating conscious music is challenging due to the prevailing moral decline in today’s generation.

News About Nigeria reports that he shared his perspective on this matter during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast.

D1 believes that conscious music would not achieve commercial success in the contemporary world.

“Right now, the world is not ready to listen to anything conscious. Is it this generation that doesn’t know their gender that you want to preach conscious lyrics to?

“Today, someone with beards would tell you, ‘I’m Linda’. Is it that kind of person you want to preach conscious lyrics to?”

Furthermore, the veteran music executive criticised Nigerian women who prioritise their physical attributes over their intellect.

In the same interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, he observed that Nigerian women often showcase their ‘buttocks and breasts’ on social media platforms to attract men.

D1 questioned the sustainability of such connections, particularly after sexual encounters.

D1 encouraged women to bring more to the table in relationships than just their physical appearance, emphasising the importance of showcasing intelligence and skills.

“Our women do not say I have brains, I can do this, I can do accounting, I can help you take your business to the next level. They think this is the table, I have breasts, I have nyansh,” he said.

“Go through your Instagram page before you see 10 pictures, you will see somebody doing like this, that is what they put forward, their bodies. They think this is the best part of them.

“Once I show nyansh like this, I go get followers. Some guys go enter my DM. That should not be the only thing that you bring to the table because after the man don knack you, what next?

“If there is nothing up here, can you help me with my company? Can you market? Can you do accounting? Can you get me new clients? Am I going to knack you for 24 hours?

“After that, you go come begin go now. Because I have business. If I do not make money, would I be able to call you next time and say make we knack again?”
