President Bola Tinubu has charged all Muslims nationwide to pray for Nigeria as they celebrate the birth and life of Prophet Muhammad, News About Nigeria reports.
According to him, prayers are necessary at this time as his government is working towards putting in place “all necessary measures to make the country secure and economically viable.”
The President said this in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, titled ‘Eid-el-Maulud: Imbibe the virtues of Prophet Muhammad, Tinubu urges Muslims.’
In his statement, he congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and beyond on this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration, charging them to live by the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
Tinubu also urged religious leaders to use the period to pray for the country and to encourage their followers to take the appropriate lessons from Prophet Muhammad’s life in their commitment to the country, noting that the day is not just for feasting but a day of reflection and emulation of the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The President also solicited the support of Nigerians, appealing to them to give their best towards the growth of a better Nigeria where love and harmony thrive.
He also noted that beyond celebrating the day marking the birthday of the Holy Prophet, the period should be used for deep introspection and fervent prayers.
In his words: “We need the full support of the citizenry in the form of patriotism, patience, and prayers.
“Adherents should make deliberate efforts to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
“There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” the President said.
