The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the February 25 general election, Peter Obi, has congratulated Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, on his installation as the new Soun of Ogbomosho, News About Nigeria reports.

Afolabi, who is a Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, in Washington, ascended to the throne of his forefathers after he was appointed by the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde.

Obi congratulated the new Soun in a post on his X account on Monday.

According to him, Afolabi is very fit for the job and would do incredibly well and also ensure that the people experience all-around growth.

“I most heartily congratulate Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye on his installation as the Soun of Ogbomosho Land. Prince Ghandi Olaoye’s elevation to the throne of his ancestors is laudable and most deserved.

“Having followed Prince Ghandi’s career, as a Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Washington, I can say that he is a round peg in a round hole, a man well-equipped and destined for royalty,” he stated.

Obi further appreciated the Soun for accepting the heavy task of bringing a new modern and enlightened dimension to the leadership of traditional institutions in the country noting that it is a good way to foster growth even in the traditional institutions.

The former Anambra State Governor also charged men like the new royal father, who desire the progress of humanity and the development of society to fully join the task of nation-building by working for the good of society, at different leadership levels noting that traditional institutions have a great contribution to make in “our quest for a New Nigeria.”
