Former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on Tuesday met with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Abdullahi Ganduje ahead of his rumored move to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

News About Nigeria reports that Mr. Wike’s rumored move comes after he bagged a ministerial appointment to serve as a minister under the APC-led President Bola Tinubu government.

The two politicians’ meeting comes one week after Wike visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu immediately after being confirmed as a minister.

Wike’s ministerial appointment will have him becoming the highest representative of Rivers State in Tinubu’s administration.

Wike’s parley with the APC comes only days after the PDP had meetings twice a week, which observers believe was an attempt to reposition the party.

Wike, who lobbied against PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 election, has constantly denied having any intentions to join the APC.

Recall that Wike and the G5 governors worked against the victory of the PDP at the 2023 general election following the refusal of  Atiku Abubakar to make him his running mate in the buildup to the 2023 general election.

Earlier, Wike despite engaging in anti-party activities insisted that he was not going to join the ruling party. However, the recent move by President Bola Tinubu to hand Wike a ministerial appointment might compel the former Rivers governor to join the ruling party.
