A group of angry youths in Gombe State have looted Ramadan relief items sent by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The aid, which was meant for distribution to the less privileged, was part of a feeding programme organized during the holy month of Ramadan.
Seyi Tinubu has been visiting Northern states, and attending Iftar gatherings with local leaders and residents while launching food distribution initiatives.
News About Nigeria gathered that his efforts have sparked mixed reactions on social media.
While some appreciated the gesture, others argued that the region needs long-term support rather than temporary relief packages.
Reports indicate that before Seyi Tinubu’s arrival in Gombe, two trucks carrying 3,500 cartons of food supplies, including rice, sugar, oil, salt, and pasta, had already reached the state.
While one truck successfully delivered its contents, the second one was intercepted by frustrated youths who took the supplies.
A video circulating online showed them tossing food cartons to others on the ground, who quickly grabbed the items.
Some observers said the looting was triggered by dissatisfaction over the earlier distribution at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretariat, where some individuals were allegedly left out.
There are reports that those excluded from the initial phase disrupted the later distribution as a form of protest.
Seyi Tinubu’s visits to the north have been linked to the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement initiative, which is seen by many as a political move to strengthen his father’s influence in the region.
However, growing resistance to his re-election campaign has fueled skepticism about the true intentions behind these visits.
