Kano LG Poll: APC Pulls Out Of Election

A sad incident occurred in the Ijede area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, where a politician, Oluwatosin Onamade, lost his life after being attacked by gunmen.

Onamade, who was vying for the chairmanship position of Ijede Local Council Development Area under the All Progressives Congress, was shot and brutally hacked with a machete by unknown assailants.

His brother, Oluwafemi Onamade, revealed that the attackers had been tracking him for some time before carrying out the fatal assault.

News About Nigeria gathered that the incident took place at his residence on Oluwatosin Onamade Street around 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Witnesses reported that the assailants, dressed in black, fired at him, but when the bullets did not have an immediate effect, they resorted to using machetes on his head and face.

The family said it believes the attack was connected to his political ambition while calling for investigation into the matter.

Oluwafemi recalled that Onamade had previously survived a similar attempt on his life in 2021.

At that time, attackers destroyed his campaign materials and targeted his associates, killing one of his staff members, Ifeanyi Godfrey.

The deceased had spoken about the threats he faced, revealing how he narrowly escaped death during that period.

A close associate of Onamade, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed that there had been multiple previous attempts on his life.

He called on authorities to bring those responsible to justice, noting that politically motivated violence had become common in Ijede.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed awareness of the attack.

Spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that an investigation had commenced to uncover those behind the killing.
