2023 Lagos PDP Guber Candidate, Jandor Resigns From Party Over Internal Crisis

Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing internal conflicts and lack of discipline within the party.

The former Lagos State governorship candidate made the announcement at a media briefing in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, March 4, 2025.

Adediran accused some party leaders, including former Deputy National Chairman Olabode George, of working against the PDP during the 2023 elections.

He claimed that instead of supporting the party’s candidate, certain individuals openly endorsed opposition candidates, which led to confusion among supporters.

He expressed disappointment that despite lodging complaints with the national leadership, no action was taken. Instead, those who allegedly sabotaged the party were given leadership positions.

Recalling his experience during the 2023 election, Adediran said his campaign was built on the promise of development and positive change, but internal betrayals weakened their chances.

News About Nigeria recalls that Jandor contested in the Lagos State Governorship election in March 2023 alongside his running mate, Funke Akindele.

However, they finished third in the race after losing to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who secured a second-term victory.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party came second in the election.

He stated that many grassroots supporters who believed in the party’s vision felt disillusioned by the actions of its leaders.

After two years of waiting for change within the PDP, he decided to leave following extensive consultations with his family, political associates, and supporters.

Despite leaving the party, Adediran reassured his followers that his dedication to the progress of Lagos remains strong.

He promised to continue working towards policies that would benefit the people, regardless of his political affiliation.

While he did not immediately disclose his next move, he hinted at engaging with stakeholders and well-meaning Nigerians to determine the best path forward.
